The Rufforth Race meet last Friday evening got off to a great start with lots of punters arriving early to make the most of the refreshments on offer as well as placing their bets before the rush. With a full house expected it was going to be busy for the club's tote, well done to David and Lynda for keeping up with the finances for the evening and working on the odds race to race.

Club Chairman Andy kept things in order with the racing getting underway just after 7pm. The crowd became more animated with each race, particularly as the bar was very busy ensuring that plenty was drunk and betting was maximised! By the final race where the horses were auctioned off prior to the start of the race, the crowd had hit fever pitch...noise levels rose with the winning owner leaping from his seat as his horse romped home to take the big cash prize of the evening.

The pie and pea supper went down a treat part way through the evening thanks to Voakes Pies (locally made in Whixley) providing their top quality steak or vegetarian options and the superb club members serving food and drinks throughout the evening.
