A message from Simon Prior, Club Chairman
Many of you will now be aware that Dave Taylor, our Head Coach, is vacating his role in the autumn to start a Sports Therapy degree at Plymouth University. Dave has had two stints as Head Coach, with a couple of years before that as an Assistant Coach and I'm grateful for all his work at the club during this period. Dave probably won't be leaving completely though and we still expect him to be around and about at the club doing a few hours here and there as and when his academic studies permit.
In his place as Head Coach, I am both delighted and excited to have appointed Matt Sheaves. Matt is a Level 4 coach with over 10 years experience both in the UK and abroad in Dubai and Melbourne, but currently working at David Lloyd in Exeter. In addition, he is coach and captain to the Devon U12 boys team and vice captain and coach to the Devon U18 boys team. Such expertise will, I'm sure, bring out the very best in all our juniors at Seaton too. He is currently working out his notice at David Lloyd in Exeter and will start at Seaton Tennis Club on the 7th of September when he will continue Dave's group coaching programme for adults and juniors and add other sessions too - details to follow. He will, of course, also be available for 1:1 private lessons for adults and juniors.
In the meantime, I have invited Matt to call in any time at the club during August so I hope he will find time in his busy schedule to look in at a few club sessions, and possibly some of the junior camps, and meet as many junior and adult members as he can. If you do see him, please give him a big Seaton Tennis Club welcome!
Simon
