A fantastic event was attended by more than 150 adults and children from the community who enjoyed fun sessions delivered by Six Bells Park Community Tennis.
 
The opening ceremony saw a speech from Cllr Helen Cunningham, Deputy Leader of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Councill, before the ribbon was cut by local martial arts champion Jack Shore and competition winner Darcie Edwards.
 
The courts have been renovated to the tune of £37,516.70 as part of a nationwide investment by the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation, delivered by the LTA, to refurbish public tennis courts and open up the sport to many more people.  
 
This investment will bring thousands of existing park tennis courts in poor or unplayable condition across the UK back to life for the benefit of communities across the country, as well as making it easier to find, book and get on court.
 
Park tennis courts are vital for getting children and adults active, delivering significant physical and mental wellbeing benefits.
 
Tennis Wales CEO Simon Johnson said: “It was great to see so many at the opening of the refurbished courts at Six Bells. Facilities like this are so important to the community.
