Another summer has come to an end and we welcomed grey skies and showers like we would welcome a hug from an opponent with dodgy line calls: with reluctant arms.
This year’s tournament featured unisex singles and 10 minute American doubles - partners swap each game and play for 10 minutes, racking up points to top the board.
Firstly, we’d like to congratulate Mark for winning this year’s singles tournament and Umar as the runner up! Their names will be engraved onto our new Slough Tennis Club plate alongside the two predecessors.
Unfortunately due to the copious amounts of rain that no weather report could even dream of, doubles has been suspended until further notice. Points have been locked away for safe keeping and the battle for the doubles trophy remains in the back of our challengers’ minds.
The summer has been incredibly successful for the club: coaching has been in high demand and social tennis saw more players than ever. As we roll into earlier nights, racquets and bright yellow tennis balls illuminated by floodlights, we look forward to seeing old faces and new in our autumn-winter sessions!
