On Sunday 15th August, in ideal playing conditions, sixteen members plus two guests gathered for a fun afternoon tournament .
After ten hectic round-robin mini-matches of four games each, the field had narrowed to four pairs, who played out short semi-finals.
The finals line-up (L to R in picture) was Sebastian Brunt & Jane Fabisz vs Amelia Newland & Damian Hill-Brookes, with Sebastian and Jane triumphing. Club chairman Mark Hankin presented prizes to the winners and runners-up, and committee member Nick Sandford presented the coveted Wooden Racket for funniest point to Sophie Geering.
With the day's proceedings on court complete, everyone retired to the Memorial Pavilion to enjoy a lavish tea with Pimms.
The club thanks everyone who made the day such a success, including Peter Groom, Veronica Groom and Hope Flower who served the teas, Liz Hankin for scoring, the committee for organising the details and all those who baked, sliced and buttered to produce the tasty teatime treats.
