Play for Club Members

Restricted play at STC is now available for members under the guidelines below. Courts 7-10 will be open.

  1. Both singles and doubles play is now permitted with people from outside of your household - meaning that four people from different households can now play doubles.
  2. Social distancing of 2 metres must be observed by members at all times whilst playing and on leaving the court area.
  3. Courts must be booked online using Clubspark and please adhere to your requested time of usage. You are strongly encouraged to finish your session 10 minutes before the end of your booked session to allow you to leave the court before the next players arrive. Courts can be booked for any time of the day between 9am and 9pm subject to availability. The maximum play time is 2 hrs.
  4. On entering and leaving the courts members are strongly advised to use disposable protective gloves to enter the code on the keypad. Players are to carry own hand sanitizer with them, whenever possible. If you need to sneeze or cough do so into a tissue or use upper sleeve. Avoid touching face.
  5. Members using Courts 7&8 will use the gate nearest the paddling pool area and those booking Courts 9&10 will use the rose garden gate. This will avoid the necessity to open the communicating gate between courts7&8 and 9&10.
  6. Players must provide their own balls.
  7. It is recommended that protective gloves are used whilst playing and in particular for the non-racket hand with which you pick up the balls.
  8. There will be no toilet facilities available at the Pavilion at present; the building is closed. The nearest toilet facility is the D-Day museum car park about 200 metres away.
  9. Prior to play please place your tennis bag a suitable distance apart from your opponents.
  10. Players coming to the tennis courts on bike are asked to park their bike at a distance from their neighbour’s bike.
  11. Following play there must be no shaking hands or contact with your opponent to observe the 2-metre distancing ruling.
  12. It is advisable not to touch the fencing around the courts or tennis posts and netting. We will check the net height to avoid members making any adjustments. The STC Board is responsible for general house-keeping.
  13. You are strongly advised to read the more detailed guidelines available on the lta website at: https://www.lta.org.uk/globalassets/news/2020/lta-guidance-for-tennis-players---covid-19.pdf

And please stay at home if you or someone you live with has had symptoms of Covid-19 or is in the most vulnerable category or advised to shield from the Coronavirus.
