CLUB NEWSLETTER
Our new season is fast approaching and it’s great to see so many of you out on
court again, hopefully dusting away the lockdown cobwebs and looking forward
to enjoying a great season of tennis at Tain.
TIME TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIPS
Membership payments for the new season are due by the 31 st MARCH 2021
You can renew online at our website Tain LTA /Memberships -Clubspark. Your
suggested membership category will be at the top just follow the steps choose
how you wish pay and that should be it. We have a range of payment methods
available to you but directly into our club bank account does save us 2% on
admin costs and helps keep our coffers healthy. Our prices have remained the
same for a number of years now and we remain one of the most affordable
tennis clubs in the country. Should you wish to change your membership
category just follow the link to your chosen category. Last season against all
odds, considering what a challenging twelve months we have all lived through, we
managed to build our membership to 115, approximately 50/50 Adults to
Juniors. This is in no small measure a testament to the superb coaching
opportunities for Adults and Juniors on offer at the club, and to the warm
welcome from the more seasoned members to new members.
EASTER CAMPS & COACHING

coaching has resumed on a Saturday morning for Juniors.

CLUB NEWS
Current restrictions on Social Gatherings prevent us from organising our usual
new season Open Days with a bite and a blether but the good news is Doubles
Play is now back and our Club nights Tuesdays and Thursday evenings, Sunday
mornings and ladies Afternoon on a Friday are now getting back into full swing
so do come along and join in. If you are not already on our What’s app group let
us know. It’s really useful to keep us all connected.
CLUB MAINTENANCE
It won’t be long now before we see the commencement of the car park upgrade,
the work may cause some disruption to parking at the courts (Asda’s car park is
just a step away) so bear with us it will be such a welcome improvement. This
project has been enabled with financial support from a very generous,
anonymous doner and the Beinn Tharsuinn Wind Farm Fund.
There is always a need for ongoing maintenance and improvement at the club our
other priorities are:
A new wind break to go along the back of the courts.
Treating the courts to prevent the build up of moss and the deterioration of
the playing surface.
LED Floodlighting for all three courts.
A new shed for storage of ground maintenance equipment, coaching equipment
and easy access to the ball machine. We propose to site this shed to the left
of the clubhouse, outwith the fence line but with access from within the courts.
If anyone has the materials or the skills to help or even to run with this project,
we would love to hear from you.
A reminder about our new range of Club clothing, T-shirts & hoodies, in green,
with the club logo on the front and the club name on the back. We are now
offering both items in purple in adult sizes only for now. Contact Fiona Jupp
through her website arbollcrafts.com or find her on Facebook to place an order.
Scott now provides a racket stringing service; you can contact him on FB
his Tain Tennis other contact details are online.
COMMITTEE
We recently held our annual AGM and are pleased to say that our committee has
remained much the same, we are delighted to welcome Kevin O’Neill as a member
and look forward to working with him. Our thanks to Jane Mason who has now
taken on the role of Child Protection Officer. The committee are all volunteers
who give freely of their time to support tennis in the area, if you feel you could
support us in any way, we want to hear from you.

This is an Open tournament but we really want as many of our own members as possible to enter
to make it a success. It will be great fun, as sociable as we can make it and a chance to
showcase just how good a tennis club we have here at Tain. We will incur costs with
organisation, referee charges and more so we are seeking sponsorship from local business,
should you be able to help with that please get in touch.
BOX LEAGUES
Scott has set up some competition amongst members with the introduction of Box leagues. So
far the games played are mounting up with folks on court battling it out despite the unseasonal
weather. Chat to Scott if you are keen to participate.
FUN TOURNAMENT & PARENT & CHILD AFTERNOON
We recently held a very successful fun tournament for members; with some great tennis on
show; Sarah Marr came out on top for the Women and youth prevailed over experience with
Marcus McAulay coming out on top for the men. Big thanks to John Waring for all the work he
put into preparing for and running the tournament on the day.
PARENT & CHILD AFTERNOON
The attendance was down on our usual, maybe the uncertain weather could be blamed for that.
Those who came had a real opportunity to pick up some tips on how to promote ball skills with
their children. It was great to see parents who are new to tennis hitting with their child acting
as the ref! One of highlights had to be 6 year old, ‘rising tennis star,’ Ali Wood having a great
hit with Pat, one of our most experienced lady players, he just didn’t want the game to end! We
plan our next Parent & Child afternoon for 2pm on Saturday 29 th May, please come along you
don’t have to be a member and there is no charge.
CLUB MAINTENANCE
We’re sure you will be pleased that our car park has now been upgraded, we still plan to tarmac
the road entrance so it will get even better. Thanks are due to a very generous, anonymous
donor and the Beinn Tharsuinn Wind Farm Fund for their financial support for this project.
There is always a need for ongoing maintenance and improvement at the club our other priorities
remain:
A new wind break to go along the back of the courts.
Treating the courts to prevent the build up of moss and the deterioration of the playing
surface.
LED Floodlighting for all three courts.
A new shed for storage of ground maintenance equipment, coaching equipment and easy
access to the ball machine. We propose to site this shed to the left of the clubhouse,
outwith the fence line but with access from within the courts. Once again we ask if
anyone has the materials or the skills to help or even to run with this project, we would
love to hear from you.
CLUB CLOTHING
A reminder about our new range of Club clothing, T-shirts & hoodies, in green with the club logo
