COVID Restrictions
We are continuing to operate in accordance with the latest LTA/government guidance in relation to tennis activities, further details of which can be found at the following link https://www.lta.org.uk/coronavirus. The Clubhouse will continue to remain open for access to the toilets/floodlights only and this will be reviewed around the 21 June in line with Step 4 of the roadmap for easing restrictions. If you do enter the Clubhouse please ensure the door is locked when you leave.
Events
We are holding another Adult Mixed American Doubles Competition at the Club on Sunday 13th June at 2pm. The competition is open to all abilities and promises to be great fun based on the previous similar competitions held this season. If you would like to play please email tarporleytennisclub@hotmail.com for more information and to register.
We are planning to hold an Open Day at the Club on Sunday 4th July. This event will be Open to Members and Non-Members and will be an opportunity for all ages to get on court and hit some balls whilst getting some expert Coaching advice from our club coach Aidan Wiggins, as well as the chance to meet fellow members/perspective members.
As restrictions hopefully continue to ease through the summer, we are also planning to hold an evening social at the Club to give members the chance to socialise both on and off the court. Further details will be shared in due course on this event.
Social Tennis
In addition to the Wednesday Ladies Morning, Wednesday Club Night and Friday Mixed Morning which are open to all Adult members, we launched a Sunday Afternoon Club Session a couple of weeks ago. The majority of adults who have attended this session have brought their family members along and so far we have run this as a Family Session with organised games for junior members on one court and adults mixing in on the other court. This format has worked well and so we propose to continue to operate 2-4pm on a Sunday Afternoon as a ‘Family Session’.
We have also had members express interest in having an additional Adult Mixed Club Night during the week and so we are potentially looking to launch a session on a Monday night from 6-8pm. If you would be interested in attending a session on a Monday night please email tarporleytennisclub@hotmail.com and if there is sufficient interest we will look to launch this session in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, if you are interested in attending any of the Social Sessions throughout the week please email tarporleytennisclub@hotmail.com for more information and to be added to the relevant WhatsAppGroup.
Coaching
We currently operate a programme of coaching run by Aidan Wiggins of First Advantage which includes junior (age 5 to 16) and adult group sessions taking place on Thursday afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings. The majority of the current sessions are full however we are reviewing what additional sessions we should look to offer at the club going forwards, so if you or any of your family members are interested in joining the Coaching programme please email tarporleytennisclub@hotmail.com.
Maintenance
You will no doubt all have noticed the transformation that has taken place at the club over the last few months which has involved a great deal of hard work, the majority of which has been carried out by a few members of the Committee. We are looking to continue this work and further enhance our excellent facility with more improvements planned for the grounds and the interior of the Clubhouse in due course. If you can spare some time to help out with any aspects of maintenance at the club please email tarporleytennisclub@hotmail.com, it would be greatly appreciated!
Court Booking
Please continue to use the Court Booking facility whenever you play at the club even if the Courts are not booked out by other members as this allows us to monitor the court utilisation throughout the week and will help us to shape the future programme of organised activities. If you have any issues booking Courts please email tarporleytennisclub@hotmail.com so we can assist you.
If you have any other questions or suggestions on any aspect of the club please do not hesitate to contact me.
Hopefully the majority of you will get chance to get out on court at some stage in the next couple of weeks and enjoy the brilliant weather!
Regards
Byron Hughes
