Last weekend saw the annual LTA 10 & Under County Cup events take place with the boys competing at Lytham St Annes and the girls at Uddingston Tennis Club, Glasgow.

10 & Under Boys

Team             James Benson, Jude Cockcroft, Max Dutton, Charlie Ouyang and Sam Wong 

The sun was out for the boys 10 & Under County Cup event at St Annes Tennis Club,  which brightened their moods after a tough start against a very strong West of Scotland team which saw the team loose all their singles matches and both doubles matches in tight third set tie breaks. After lunch the team played another Scottish team, North of Scotland where the team fought hard to draw 3-3, this meant a match shoot out to decide the winner, Lancashire won! Sunday saw the team play Cumbria who were sitting at the bottom of the table, the team played well and secured a 5-1 win to give them a third place finish.

10 & Under Girls

Team             Jia Kochhar, Kendra Oluwa, Ava Ormes, Ellie Stickland and Luciana Trivino

The team travelled over 200 miles to suprisingly sunny Glasgow on Friday night ready for play first thing on Saturday morning to find out that one of the teams East of Scotland had withdrawn which was a shame for the girls as it meant less matches for them to play. The girls started off strongly on the Saturday playing all their singles matches. First up was West of Scotland where the girls won all their singles matches despite some expected nerves in the first sets. Next up they played South of Scotland where they put on a dominat displaying being 4-0 up before going into Sunday's doubles matches. A lunchtime finish on Saturday meant that the team could head of bowling to celebrate Ellie's 10th birthday!

Sunday was more like typical Scottish weather and was cold and overcast, this didnt stop the girls though they won all 4 doubles matches to finish the weekend undfeated and qualified for the National 10 & Under Finals - North which is held on 8th and 9th June at Wirral Tennis Centre.
