Congratulations to Lancashire’s 35 & Over Women’s Team who have been promoted to Group 1 in the LTA County Cup this past weekend in Eastbourne.
The team clinched first place in Group 2B on the grass-courts of Devonshire Park and will return to the top division for the 2022 competition.
Lancashire, who overcame the three other teams in a very close group, were beaten 2-1 by Warwickshire in a rain affected first day. Victory over South Wales on day two by four rubbers to one put Lancashire back in the game heading into the final day against Yorkshire.
With the tie locked at one-all following the singles, Lancashire overcame Yorkshire in the three doubles rubbers to claim a 3-2 win and take top spot in the group.
