Success for Lancashire players at ITF Masters World Team Championships

Lancashire had 3 Ladies representing Great Britain in the recent  ITF Masters World Team Championships played in Mallorca from 8th October.

Christine Baron who played in the Ladies 75 & over team was chosen by the GB team to be the flag bearer for the opening ceremony, a great honor to add to the delight of representing GB for the first time. The 75's team started well beating Switzerland & South Africa 3-0 in the group stage before losing to a vert strong Finnish team 1-2. The GB team went into the 5/8th play off beating Canada and then Germany to end the tournament in a great 5th place. Well done Chris and teh rest of the team.

Dorothy Bamber was part of the GB 80 & Over team who topped their group beating Japan and Finland with Dorothy winning both of her doubles matches with partner Joan Hassell. Next GB played a very strong USA team resulting in a 1-2 loss, next up France and another loss. The Ladies 80 & 0ver team finished in a amazing 3rd place. Well done Ladies

Last and by no means least Pam McGrath played in the Ladies GB 85 & Over team who finish in 2nd place. The team were given a walkover by Ukraine and then went on to beat Argentina 3-0. Into the final against USA the team went and a tough 3-0 loss against a very strong side.
