Well done to the Lancashire 14 & Under Girls County Cup team who finished 3rd at the LTA National Finals at Nottingham Tennis Centre at the weekend. 

14 & Under Girls Team

Players - Anya Grady,  Ekin Hepgul,  Amarachi Ikem, Naina Kapoor and Chloe Lau.

The girls were in Group A which included Hampshire & IOW, Nottinghamshire and Surrey. The team travelled down on Thursday evening ready to play Hampshire & IOW on Friday morning. The girls started well with a 5-1 win.  Friday afternoon saw the team play tough opponents, Surrey (who would go on to win the title) The tie was  3-1 after a win from Naina, the team knew they needed to win both of the doubles matches on Saturday to ahve a chance of qualifying top of the group/

Saturday morning saw a mixed start with 1 doubles win and 1 loss against Surrey which meant the girls could not win the group. The girls bounced back to a strong 6-0 win against Nottinghamshire. The loss to Surrey meant Lancashire finished 2nd in their group and on Sunday would play for 3rd/4th place against Avon. 

After lots of close matches and tie breaks Lancashire came out on top with a 5-1 win against Avon to finish in 3rd place. A great effort from the players, coaches and parents supporting from home! A special well done to Naina who won all of her matches over the weekend.
