LTA President visits Lancashire

We were honored to have a vist from LTA President David Rawlison at the end of August.

David started his visit to Lancashire by visiting the annual Lancashire Tennis Championships to watch the Quarter finals of the Men's Singles event and Semi finals of the Ladies Singles event and then attend the Tennis Lancashire Council Meeting where he took questions from members on a range of topics before joining them for dinner afterwards.

The first Club on David's tour was rather a suprise, Liverpool Football Club, especially as he’s a big Man Utd fan. Even during his tour of Anfield, David didn’t once mention Utd’s victory over the Reds earlier in the week……well, maybe once or twice! David then went onto Aughton LTC to open their new courts and floodlights, playing Pickleball for the first time.  Then it was off to Lostock LTC where our Development Coach of the Year Tom Luke welcomed David into a group session, and he then had tea with members afterwards.

David's last stop was a visit to the first day of finals at the Lancashire Tennis Championships where he presented lots of trophies and spoke to players aged 8 & Under all the way upto 70 & Over.

David had a busy few days in Lancs and everyone was thrilled that he had taken the time to visit us, do so much and be such a good sport, both on and off the court. We all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed David’s company. Come back soon Mr President. many awe struck youngsters and adults and saw some great tennis being played on finals day.
