Well done to the Lancashire 14 & Under Girls County Cup team who finished 4th at the LTA National Finals at Nottingham Tennis Centre at the weekend.

Players - Annabel Benson, Anya Grady, Amarachi Ikem, Chloe Lau, Naina Kapoor and April Sackflame

The girls were in Group B which included Hertfordshire, Middlesex and Sussex. The team travelled down on Thursday evening ready to play Sussex on Friday morning. The girls started well with a 6-0 win after losing just 2 sets. Friday afternoon saw the team play tough opponents, Hertfordshire. The tie was level at 2-2 with wins from April and Chloe with the team knowing they needed to win at least 1 of the doubles matches on Saturday. 

Saturday morning saw a mixed start with 1 doubles win and 1 loss against Hertfordshire meaning the score was tied at 3-3, a match tie break shoot out would decide who would take the win and unfortunately the southern county were stronger. The girls bounced back to a strong 4-2 win against Middlesex with April, Naina and Chloe all winning matches. The loss to Hertfordshire meant Lancashire finished 2nd in their group and on Sunday would play for 3rd/4th place against Essex.

After lots of close matches and tie breaks Essex came out on top with a 5-1 win against the Lancashire girls who left it all out on court.

The team finished 4th, a great effort from the players, coaches and parents supporting from home!
