IOM Open 2024

2024 IOM Open Tennis Tournament

The Isle of Man Lawn Tennis Association (IOMLTA), hosted the IOM Open from April 4th to 7th, 2024. It was held at Douglas Lawn Tennis Club and featured men’s and ladies' singles events.

With a 16-player draw for the mens singles and a 8-player draw for the ladies', the tournament commenced under challenging weather conditions, courtesy of Storm Kathleen. Nevertheless, the first round and quarter finals were completed and we headed to a weekend of semi finals and finals.

With storm Kathleen continuing to blow on the Saturday and Sunday, the tournament committee took the decision to play the Mens’s semi-finals and Mens and Ladies finals onto the indoor court at Albany having secured some court time.

Men’s Singles Highlights

The semi-finals on April 6th saw Craig Blackwell triumph over Nick Reeder with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Charlie Woods who had travelled over from the UK beat Nerijus Gricevius 6-0, 6-0.

On Sundays final Charlie Woods emerged victorious against Craig Blackwell, securing the championship with a 6-1, 6-4 win.

Ladies' Singles Highlights

In the ladies' singles event, Sarah Long beat Libby Moore 6-0 6-1 in the first semi final and Rosie Manuja beat Abigail Grace Cowell 6-1 6-1 in hers. For the final Sarah Long clinched the title with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Rosie Manuja in the final.

The tournament committee would like to thank the players for their patience as we changed scheduled match times due to conditions during the tournament and we hope to get the remaining consolation matches postponed from the weekend completed this week.

The return of the IOM Open in 2024 was a fantastic tournament for the Island and we look forward to the next round of IOMLTA tournaments.
