Tennis Club News, February 2025
The big news is that the Tennis Club AGM is just a few weeks away. There has been plenty going on with the club that we’d like to share with you. As you probably already know, there will be the traditional refreshments and plenty of time to catch up with other members - and to meet new faces if you have recently joined. It’s a friendly occasion, so we do implore you to find the time.
The date is Friday 14 March, 7pm for a 7.30pm start, in the Pavilion next to the tennis courts. One year ago, at the 2024 AGM, our Chairman of 15 years, announced that he was to retire in 12 months. Well, we are 11 months into his notice period and we have been searching for a new Chairman since last March! If you’d like to put yourself forward, or can suggest a likely candidate, please do get in touch with David, or any committee member, prior to the AGM.
On a slightly lesser level, we would love to have a new member or two on the committee. We have meetings every two or three months in the Plume of Feathers, and the job isn’t onerous. It would be especially helpful to have a parent who might have some better ideas than we have about children’s tennis.
Also under discussion at the AGM will be the format for our own tournaments and how we could make them more attractive to a wider number of members, so any ideas you have would be most welcome. We are planning an Open Day in April, as well as a summer party and a quiz in the Autumn.
So please put Friday 14 March in you diary now, and the committee look forward to seeing you in the pavilion form 7pm onwards.
