News December 2024 – Tennis Club

Tennis Club News, December 2024

We’ve had some fine Autumn days for tennis in November, and despite the chill in the air, exercise soon warms the cockles and layers of warm clothing can be removed. Just don’t forget the sunglasses and hat to shield that low sun in the middle of the day.

Our quiz night at the beginning of November was another big success, with six teams of eight making a pretty good stab at most of the rounds, the most tricky of which seemed to be the questions on tennis! My team managed about three out of ten correctly, which knocked us out of the running. Congratulations to Ruth, Damien, Liza, Mike, Louise, Rupert and Sabine the overall winners. Their knowledge of popular music was unbeatable.

Our tennis ball recycling initiative has gone extremely well with 225 balls deposited by mid-November. We need to get that up to 250 before the recyclers will take them and we remain intrigued to know what will actually happen to them!

We’ve notice that mud occasionally gets onto the Tiger Turf court surfaces, brought in by footwear, so please can you make sure the soles of your tennis shoes are clean before you enter the courts.

The tennis Club AGM will take place on Friday March 14. Please put that date in your diary now because we’d love to see as many members as possible. There will be much to discuss, and it will be time to say farewell to our Chairman David Room, who will be retiring.

That’s it for December. Best wishes from the Tennis Club committee for a very happy Christmas.
