The Harold Moorhouse Charity Tournament
Fri, 17 Aug 2018 00:00

In the midst of a heatwave - high winds and rain - didn't deter 32 young players from the Burnhams area from taking part in this popular tournament. As expected standards were high as each year the participants are a year older and more advanced in their tennis prowess. The huddled masses of families and friends witnessed the two age groups battle it out to the finals featuring Ieuan & Tia versus Michael & Charlie in the junior age group and Cameron & Ginny versus Joel & Noah in the senior grouping. Michael & Charlie were the junior winners and Cameron & Ginny were the winners in the seniors. The day's sport ended with lunch for the participants and the awards ceremony. The Charity Shield went to Henry Townshend for his improvement in the tennis game and all round good cheer and helpfulness over the past 12 months.
