Thornden Thrillers. (photo men's premier) (forgot to take a photo for the men's county league)

Our County National Club League match at home on Sunday couldn't have been any closer. It was two rubbers each after the singles including an impressive 6-0 6-3 for debutant Charlie Murphy against a higher rated player at 3. The doubles was also shared - Chris Egby and Harry Thomas recording a fine second pair win . So it was on to the shoot out in which  Paul Stavely our number 1 singles player faced the formidable Aarron Blackman , 5 ratings above him. It was not to be, but wins by Charlie and a 10-8 thriller in the doubles secured victory. Fantastice result!

Further away in North Oxford, Paul Scullard's National club team came up against the current league leaders . The team had the most competitive match so far in the series with great wins from Matt Sampson and Paul Scullard and tight losses from Mats and Lucca. The opposition were pretty classy at doubles - with a couple of  vet GB players - so unfortunately we lost those but onwards and upwards to next week against Wimbourne  and one final match v Bristol at home the week after. Overall some impressive tennis from both our men's teams .
