Report from the Ladies B match on saturday

Ladies B v Kingsgate .. 1’s Helen H and Inger ... against 2nds took us a while to get into it and lost first set 6-2 , went ahead in 2nd set but made a few unforced errors and lost 6-3.. lots of good rallies and enjoyable tennis. Against firsts we were more relaxed and had long games , lost first st 6-3 , went 3-1 up in 2nd and lost 5 games in a row to get 6-3.. Pam Thompson and Sheena Barker the 2nd pair. Against 1,s lost 1 and 0 , but a few long rally’s , lost against 2nds 1 and 2 , but they said they really enjoyed it as well . Kingsgate just dropped a division so was always going to be tough. Also gave us some covid secure cake as well!

Report from Mixed A - also Saturday:

A lovely day for a match and so nice to be back playing a match. You always put that little bit extra in for a match. Mark and Christine played brother and sister pair. A VERY good 16 year old county lad. Just a shame they decided to use our match as a match practice for him! They roared into a 5 0 lead but we crept back with 2 games. Second set had us improving and only losing 4 6. We had some very effective defensive play against the opposition which got them a bit ruffled. Nigel and Julie started well but couldn't keep it up and lost 5 7, 1 6 Round 2 Mark and Christine fought hard and really attacked and took the first set 6 4. With confidence flying we took the second 6 2 Unfortunately Nigel and Julie didn't do so well and lost love and love but still said it was a great game. So lost 1-3!

No report as such for the Men's B on Sunday but Dan promised to brush his hair for the photo!Unfortunately it takes greater skills than mine to make a collage of the 2 photos I've been sent  so the state of Dan's hair  will remain  a mystery. From the score card both our pairs did well against the 2s - Jon and Andy managed a 3rd set deciding tie break which they just lost- Dan and Slawek also only narrowly lost the 1st set. They look happy in the photo  which I was sent so hopefully it was an enjoyable morning's tennis.
