Match report from Christine!:

Thornden B headed off to Winchester and I couldn’t believe it when we arrived that neither Ava or Maya had been there before. And it was a first for Maya on the clay courts!

Julie and I played at 1 and were comfortably in the lead 6-1 5-2 with match point. And suddenly it’s 5 all. Pulled ourselves together and took the next 2 games.

Meanwhile Ava and Maya played the 2s. It took them a while to get used to the surface and eventually forcing a tie break in the second set.

Round 2  A tricky match for Julie and me but eventually winning it in 2. Ava and Maya played another tie break and won this one, before losing the second set and the 10 point tie break. So a draw but we won the extra set!

Stephen Thompson reported that our Mens' C faced a big Bassett C team and suffered a loss. Matt and Jamie Pitman played as a pair which was great experience for Jamie. Stephen and Stuart Ray were the other pair. Onwards and upwards!

Ladies A were away at a very sunny Kingsgate. It was Liezl's first match back with us after about 3 years of injuries so that was fabulous. We also managed a draw ( a win on count back!) Kingsgate has some lovely newly surfaced astro courts which were  nice to play on in the heat.

If anyone remembers to send me photos I will be happy otherwise it's always my team featured!!
