We may have been kept busy with umbrellas and raincoats this week but that is about all that has been busy. The only tennis to report is the Apsley B team away at David Lloyd Southampton, a few visits to gigs and non-gigs, Holiday Tennis Club, Park Sport and non-news about next week for one member of the club. So we will start, and pretty much end with the Apsley B Team visit to David Lloyd. A quick look at the Division 2 League Table shows us that it is really tight at the top: a win on this Saturday would keep us up there in the top three with Riverside B so it was essential that we should take the points. Mind you the now is Monday and I still don’t have any results so it is still an “IF”.
Spare a thought for Martyna Ciubatiuk who will be off to the Road to Wimbledon Finals next week – not to play but as a spectator. Unfortunately she has managed to break a leg and hence will be mixing it up between a wheelchair and crutches to navigate her way around the facilities at Wimbledon. I understand that LTA has made special arrangements for her visit so I do hope she, and Edyta have a really good day. I am sure that I can I extend our sympathy to poor Martyna in missing out on this opportunity – which really is a once in a lifetime unless you are up there in the mix with the International Road to Wimbledon players.
The Vets are now pretty much home and dry: the Vets A team are promoted to Division 1 and the Vets B team are so far ahead of the second place team they are most definitely promoted to Division 3.
So that about wraps it up for this week. County has launched the Winter Junior Tennis entries this weekend. We are asked to use players rated between 7.1 and 10.2 so some of our regulars will be able to concentrate on the Adult leagues during the dark months! I desperately need captains so if I ask say “YES” no arguments just “YES”!!
Next week: Apsley As at home to RiversideA team – need our support club as they really need to move up a bit.
