The week end started with our Mixed B v Compton and Shawford A at home. Janet Butler and Mark  Wellby won their first match  but let the 2nd match slip away by a very close 5-7 3-6.  Julie Kelly and Paul Staveley were unlucky  - losing to the 1s and just  losing to the 2s in a 3rd set tie break   for a 1-3 loss overall. 

Sunday saw 2 matches- Men's C V Romsey Abbey at home and Ladies A v Winchester A away.  So first the Men's C. Chris Osborne and Steve Thompson had a great day, winning all 3 matches. Lindsay Ross and Stuart Grubb did well to get a total of 2  halfs and Gerry Overton and Stu Ray  managed a half to give a respectable draw overall ! The weather was pretty dodgy so good to get the match played .

Meanwhile, up at Winchester with the last minute loss of 3 of our players we were very grateful for Helen and Erin stepping in to give us a complete team. We were  disappointed to see Freya knocking up when we arrived - we were hoping she would be away at uni!!  We realised at this point that it was going to be a tough morning. After the 1st round we were 2-1 up- positive! 3 all after the 2nd round! Unfortunately the last round was tough and we ended with a 3.5-5.5 loss .  The home advantage of the astro courts was magnified by the rain but no excuses. We had some good matches anyway with tasty  chips afterwards .
