Saturday September 17th saw the culmination of our summer of tennis with our finals day, it was the first time since 2019 that we have been able hold the full tournament and the first time it had been played on our TigerTurf courts - It was a lovely bright day starting at 1pm.....
The first matches on court where the Mens and Ladies singles matches, Michael Willis v Matt Yates & Alena Karpova v Tiffany Cruz
Starting on Court 6 - Matt and Michael kicked us off with what promised to be a tough match for both players, unfortunately Matt suffered an injury early in the match, Michael stayed fully focussed in what must have been difficult circumstances and went on the win the match convincingly with a 6-1, 6-2 win, Thanks to Glenn for umpiring this match

Court 5 - Alena & Tiffany kicked off the Ladies tournament with a fantastic final with some amazing technical and power play from both players, a really entertaining match umpired by Riyad, Alena taking the match 6-2 6-2

Next up on Court 5 - Ladies Doubles Final - Tiffany Cruz & Anya Colgan v Alena Karpova & Emma O'Driscoll
Tiff & Anya our number one seeds proved themselves and battled hard against Alena & Emma, both Tiff and Alena had just come off the back of their singles match prior to the doubles, it proved to be a very close encounter with the match being all square after two sets 4-6 7-5 , Tiff & Anya kept the momentum and pulled off a great 3rd set victory to take the cup with a 4-6 7-5 6-2 victory, thanks to Michael Greenham for umpiring.

Court 6 - Mens Doubles Final - Michael Willis & John Ryley v Glenn Norman & Rupert Banks
Another strong line up between the 1st & 2nd seeds, a tight start with Michael & John taking the first set 7-5, momentum built with the 2nd set starting Michael & John applying the pressure to run out 7-5 6-1 winners giving Michael his 2nd victory of the day in an entertaining match, thank you to Ian Webb for umpiring

Court 5 - Mixed Doubles - Daniel Barham & Laurie Clark v Ian Wilson & Tiffany Cruz
With the lightfading Tiffany took to the court for her 3rd final of the day with 1st Seed Dan & Laurie taking on 2nd seeds Ian & Tiff, it was a tight first set with Ian & Tiff taking it 7-6 on a t/b, Dan & Laurie fought back to take the 2nd set convincingly with 1-6 win, all to play for in the 3rd, after 2 hours 15 minutes and a 6-6 score in the 3rd set Dan & Laurie take the championship tiebreak 10-6 to take the Mixed title, thanks to Joe & Khalia for sharing the chair on this match
Mixed 2022 Doubles Champions - Daniel Barham & Laurie Clark
Our final match saw the Plate being contested between Kieron Curtis & Christian O'Donoghue, umpired by Richard Cook, Kieron took and early lead taking the first set 6-4, Christian then fought back taking the 2nd set 4-6, all square going in to the 3rd set which again proved to be a marathon 6-6 in the 3rd with Christian taking the 3rd set on a chamionship tie-break
