2023 at Walmley Tennis Club got off to a flying start with an impressively large turnout for the first social tournament of the year.
With so many wanting to take part, the more than 30 members were divided into two groups, with the doubles pairings trying to win as many games as possible in four 20-minute sessions in the round-robin format.
Individual New Year honours went to Graham Morgan, Sally Pipkin and Ceci Shorrock in Group One, while Michael Bentley and Moira Doran were the top performers in Group Two.
A great morning’s play was matched by the quality of the sandwiches and other refreshments served up by volunteers in the clubhouse.
