Senior Championships

Mixed Doubles: 'It’s a family affair' or so it proved in the Mixed Doubles Final with mother and son pair Helen and Adam Parr battling sister and brother pair Alisa and Dimitriy Dyachenko for the Mixed Doubles crown.  No sibling rivalry evident on court though for Alisa and Dimi who combined their competitive instincts against their opponents not themselves to become the youngest pair ever to win the title in straight sets 6-1 7-5. Well done to both pairs for an entertaining match.

Gentlemen’s Doubles: Ross Etherington, last year’s Men’s Singles finalist, and his doubles partner Michael Bentley took on and beat renowned pairing Alex Thompson and Dave Evans with some tactical net and baseline play in a fiercely contested Gentlemen’s Doubles Final.  Ding-dong baseline rallies and passing shot winners a plenty from both sides interspersed with some telling interceptions at the net.  The final rally of the match saw Michael fizz one of his signature backhands down the line to seal the title 6-3 7-5.

Ladies Doubles & Singles: Unfortunately both ladies championships were unable to take place on the day, however we are hopeful to reschedule these in the coming weeks.

Gentlemen’s Singles: Dave Evans took on Joe Haigney for the Gentlemen’s Singles title in a battle that went down to the wire in a tense championship tie break. Congratulations to Joe for securing his first ever singles title 2-6 6-2 10-7.
