Warwickshire Mens Summer County Week 2024

History was made today! Our men have been promoted, AGAIN! That is back to back wins to move to Divison 1!!

Our Captain Gavin Henderson was incredibly proud of the team moving from div 5 to div 1 at Eastbourne. He shared that the achievement was an 'unbelievable reward to the boys for a team effort . The bears feel like they are ready to be let out into the jungle!'

We could not be prouder to have these players represent Warwickshire and what an achievement by our Captain to lead the squad to such historic victory, AGAIN 🐻

Summing up the week the lads didn’t let me down. We took each match one by one target on Monday & Tuesday was to win to and try and stay up we did that and then like life sometimes you get a knock back and bit of bad luck losing so many champ tie breaks against Yorkshire on day 3 but at this high level we knew that teams at the bottom of the group would do us a favour and beat each other .

Friday came we knew promotion was in our own hands all we had to do was beat Buckinghamshire! Hmmm we lost heavily to them last year ,but i had a meeting the night before with and changed a few players around to go for it ( if we lost we would go down fighting )

Team was Recci & Hammond a formidable pair to date

Pow & Malik best pair by results in group 2👍

In a few eyes we took a calculated gamble on partridge & Plaskett .(again on their day a few years back a formidable pair)  (credit to the players not selected but wow what support from the sidelines from them that’s team spirit 👍 )

💥 5-1 win promotion

A lot to take in,in the last few days as the captain of Warwickshire men’s tennis but in my terms we have made it to the promised land the PL

Who could of imagined it 6 yrs ago 2019 languishing in div 5 at west Worthing this year playing at the National tennis centre in div 2 gaining a dramatic promotion against the odds to next year 2025 being at Eastbourne (back where Warwickshire belong ) talking from the heart this is what dream are made of anything is possible with grit determination and a strong belief in backing yourself every single bear player in my team did that.go bears 🐻

See u all in Eastbourne next year 👍
