COVID-19 Update from the LTA

*Covid Update from the LTA*

Any number of people at the club at one time must fit government guidelines for social distancing, handwashing , access to facilities, equipment as in the attached.  Therefore before a number can be determined the size of the venue and how they can help everyone follow these guidelines has to be risk assessed. Whilst the Government guidance does not state an upper limit for those venues that have taken steps to ensure they are COVID-19 secure, the LTA strongly recommends that venues consider the maximum capacity that they can operate at safely and ensure social distancing can be maintained at all times. At this initial stage, the LTA’s guidance for officials and competition organisers recommends limiting those participating, officiating and organising competitions to 30.

A coach can meet with different people during the day as long as social distancing is adhered to at all times and LTA guidelines are followed, and so there is no limit to the number of one to one or group coaching sessions a coach can do in a day.

Junior group coaching can now take place in groups of up to 15 plus coach(es), in line with Government guidance for out of school providers. Larger adult group coaching is now possible for venues and coaches that are COVID-19 secure, in line with Government guidance on organising outdoor sport and physical activity events and for providers of grassroots sport and gym/leisure facilities.

The guidance and FAQ’s which are on the link below suggest how to do this, I have attached the template for a risk assessment and a delivery plan. The link below gives the FAQs for the guidance which should help any venue consider the risks and how to mitigate them.

England

Government has published guidance specifically related to large scale sport and physical activity and participation events in England. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have explicitly said this permits larger groups to gather for the purposes of competition and club nights.

As per this guidance, clubs organising club nights for larger groups should complete an event delivery plan to ensure their venue is COVID-19 secure. A template is available from the COVID-19 section of the Resource Library on the LTA website.
