We have waited two years for a win so were absolutely delighted to scrape a winning draw on Friday 13th away against Wiltshire.

We had a glorious drive down to Swindon in beautiful September sunshine. Chris Clewer and Margaret Simcox took on Helen Russi and Denise Coxhead. They lost 3-6, 3-6 but the score does not reflect how close the match was with long complex rallies and so many games going to deuce. After two hours all four were exhausted. Meanwhile a  new partnership of Lin Lisle and  Caroline Rhodes were on form and gelled well, beating Suzanne Bullimore and Clare Morgan 6-3, 6-4. Halfway and all square. Lin and Caroline then defeated Helen and Denise 6-3,6-4. At this point Chris and Margaret were 6-1, 5-2 down and knew they needed a set to give us that sought after win. They pulled out all the stops, chasing down every ball and secured the set on a tie-break. After almost four hours tennis they couldn't capture the championship tie break but we had our win.

On this occasion we did not need our reserve, Kay, but we thought you might like to see a picture of the team with a travelling reserve!
