Captains Report

Day 1 Saturday 21/5/22

We first came up against Shropshire. Henry and Willoughby were up. With all the boys having a decent warm up they went out and within minutes they got to work 4-0 4-0 both boys with the same result got us up with a 2-0 start. Seb and Jeremy up next. Both with ease had the same result as Henry and Willoughby 4-0 and the tie against Shropshire finished. We relaxed in the doubles with Freddie and Seb playing as the 2nd pair and Henry and Jeremy as the first. They both finished there match 4-0 4-0. 6-0 to Warwickshire.

Next we faced Derbyshire. Freddie coming in at number 4 and Willoughby still at 3. Freddie losing closely in the 3rd set tie 10-6. 1-0 Derbyshire. Willoughby making it level with 4-0 4-0 win. Seb also wining 4-0 4-0 we went 2-1 up. Jeremy Mr ice man himself winning the tie break in the first set and the winning the second 4-1. 3-1 Warwickshire. The doubles come up next with Seb and Willoughby as pair 1 and Henry and Jeremy as pair 2. The double got underway and with Seb and Willoughby losing 12-10 in the 3rd set, Henry and Jeremy cruised to the finishing line with a 4-0 4-1 win. Warwickshire win 4-2.

Day 2 Sunday 22/5/22

Warwickshire vs Herefordshire & Worcestershire

The boys go off to a slow start after the first day being easier then they thought. H&W came out with an awkward game plan. With Henry and Willoughby up first. Henry was taken to a 3rd set losing out 10-6 and Willoughby winning his match 4-2 4-1 it was 1-1 going into the next round of singles. Seb and Jeremy were up. Seb shaken with playing an awkward opponent took a while to get firing after being 3-0 down in the first set came back to win 8-6 in the tire break and then kept it together to win the second set 4-1. 2-1 Warwickshire. Jeremy made it 3-1 with a love and love victory. Doubles time! With H&W sitting back it made Warwickshire confused and hard for them to play how they liked to play. With that said H&W took both double in the 3rd set tie breaks. Seb and Willoughby losing 11-9 and Henry and Jeremy losing 10-6. It was time for a shootout. Jeremy and Willoughby were chosen for it and they delivered 10-6. Warwickshire win on a shootout.

Lastly to play to go through to nationals were Staffordshire. With boys knowing that if they’d win they had done it. They went out there with a game plan and boy did they deliver. Freddie winning his doubles 4-0 4-0. Willoughby winning his doubles 4-0 4-0

Seb winning his singles 4-0 4-0 Jeremy to secure the victory to send us through. He was unbeaten in his single the whole 2 day and playing a strong number 1 from staffs Jeremy was taken the distance. Losing the first set 1-4. Won the second set 4-1 and won the tie break 10-2. Warwickshire had made through to the national with our even needing the doubles. They boys to professional did a good jobs going out there and still playing there hardest. Winning both doubles. 6-0 Warwickshire.
