COVID UPDATE - DOUBLES PLAY RESUMED

Dear Member,

On 31 May the LTA advised Tennis Clubs that both singles and doubles play is now permitted with people from outside of your household, as long as you remain 2 metres apart as far as possible.

You can find these guidelines at:-

https://www.lta.org.ukglobalassets/news/2020/lta-guidance-for-tennis-players---covid-19.pdf

  • Both singles play and doubles play is now permitted with people from outside of your household, as long as you remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – meaning that four people from different households can now play doubles

  • Coached sessions should be limited to groups of no more than 6 people including the coach(es)

The following instructions will apply until further notice for your safety and protection.

MEMBER USE OF COURT INSTRUCTIONS – LTA REQUIREMENTS

  • Adhere to the current social distancing restrictions of 2 metres at all times

  • Up to maximum of 6 members are permitted to be on court 1 (lower court) at any one time

  • The LTA advice states that for doubles, you should consider agreeing in advance which player will take the shot if a ball travels to the centre of the court (New LTA Guideline)

  • Clubhouse is to remain  closed for the time being  (no access to toilet facilities) – (the lock has temporarily been changed)

  • The Committee ask that members only play 1 hour per day, to enable everybody an opportunity to play. To avoid disappointment and maximise social distancing, we ask that members utilise the Clubspark online court booking system wherever possible.

  • Online Court booking system – limited to 1 hour per day per member, and is restricted to 15 days in advance

  • If you have booked a court in advance and no longer need the booking please be thoughtful and courteous by cancelling to allow others to play  instead

  • Players do not now need to use their own clearly marked tennis balls – however if you choose to use shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure you do not touch your face during play, and you should clean your hands before play and immediately after finishing (new LTA guideline)

  • Hand hygiene is imperative – use alcohol gel to clean your hands after touching a shared surface – (new LTA guideline)

  • Hand sanitiser – please bring your own, but this is also provided on both courts by the Club, along with wipes to wipe door handles when being locked up

  • Please do not lock the courts unless you are the last known booking of the day

  • If the courts are left open through the day, there is no need to use  wipes

  • All Club sessions cancelled until further notice

  • There is limited court seating

  • DO NOT TOUCH the net posts/winders before or after play, as they have already been set to the correct height.

  • First Aid Kit is located in front of clubhouse door and placed in a suitable container

  • NO VISITORS to play until further notice, only members can play

  • One to one coaching with Phil Wylie and Geoff Thomas for up to one hour per day, (but note this counts as your 1 hour per day). MEMBERS SHOULD BOOK the hour session using the online booking system (and not the coaches).

Please respect and adhere to these Instructions.  As a member of the Club you are agreeing to be bound by these Instructions, and could be disciplined if they are not followed.  These Instructions will also be posted on the Club website.

A big thank you for adapting so well to these changes and please - enjoy your tennis.

Best wishes to you all,

Philip Leahy – Chair

And on behalf of all the Committee

Joan Curran – Club Secretary 31.05.2020
