COVID UPDATE - CLUB NOW OPEN
Fri, 15 May 2020 00:00
On 11 May the LTA advised Tennis Clubs that tennis activity in England will be able to take place outdoors from Wednesday 13 May with:
- SINGLES PLAY ONLY, or except
- where PLAYERS ARE ALL FROM SAME HOUSEHOLD (eg families), in which case they can play doubles. On this basis and until further notice, Westfields Tennis Club will re-open on Friday 15 May 2020 for singles only and doubles play with same household members in line with strict LTA/UK Government guidelines. The Committee hope that these imposed restrictions will be adhered to by members for your own safety and protection.
The Committee appreciate that we are all wanting to get back on court and play tennis as soon as possible and we have put in place some new Use of Court Instructions as below, to allow as many members to play as possible, and more importantly, to further ensure member safety and protection. These instructions will apply until further notice. Please refer to the link attached for your information.
MEMBER USE OF COURT INSTRUCTIONS – LTA REQUIREMENTS
- Adhere to the current social distancing restrictions of 2 metres at all times
- Clubhouse closed (no access to toilet facilities) – (the lock has temporarily been changed)
- The Committee ask that members only play 1 hour per day, to enable everybody an opportunity to play. To avoid disappointment and maximise social distancing, we ask that members utilise the Clubspark online court booking system wherever possible.
- Online Court booking system – limited to 1 hour per day per member, and is restricted to 15 days in advance
- Tennis balls – please bring your own to use (2 different brands if possible and serve only with the tennis balls that you bring)
- Hand sanitizer – please bring your own, but this will also be provided on both courts by the Club, along with wipes to wipe door handles when being locked up
- Please do not lock the courts unless you are the last known booking of the day
- If the courts are left open through the day, there is no need to use wipes
- All Club sessions cancelled until further notice
- There is no court seating
- DO NOT TOUCH the net posts/winders before or after play, as they have already been set to the correct height.
- First Aid Kit is located in front of clubhouse door and placed in a suitable container
- NO VISITORS to play until further notice, only members can play
- One to one coaching with Phil Wylie and Geoff Thomas for up to one hour per day, (but note this counts as your 1 hour per day). MEMBERS SHOULD BOOK the hour session using the online booking system (and not the coaches).
Please respect and adhere to these Instructions. As a member of the Club you are agreeing to be bound by these Instructions, and could be disciplined if they are not followed. A failure to comply with the instructions by any member or group of members, could result in them being reported by the public to the Police or LTA. Club members in turn could be fined by the Police, or the Club reported directly to the LTA, which could result in total closure of the courts.
