Thanks For The Memories – Helen & Stuart Robinson Bring Down The Curtain

After over twenty years at Wetherby tennis club Helen and Stuart Robinson are due to leave the area and move back north to Yarm where Helen was originally from as the pair look to continue their next chapter together.

Both have played significant roles in the development of Wetherby tennis club , on and off court, and without their input the club would not be as well placed as it finds itself at present. Both have tasted much success on court and captained teams throughout a number of years and so many social events have taken place thanks to their considerable efforts.

Partners in crime Rachel Hill and Sue Perkins have formed strong friendships on and off the court and enjoyed playing success in both the ladies and mixed first teams.

A surprise gathering organised by Rachel Hill, Sue Perkins and Sue Jacklin greeted the couple this evening as friends and team mates enjoyed reminiscing over good food and a glass of bubbly.

Bradley Triffitt did a good job posing for the camera and popped up on several occasions with various members!

Plenty of familiar faces with committee members Roger Fawcus, Steve Jones and Mike Butterworth in attendance whilst long standing friends Rachel Butterworth, Debbie Vines and Dee Nolan also enjoyed celebrating with the Robinsons. Always great to catch up with Mark Vines and Paul Hill too thanks.

Stuart often has a good tale to tell and no doubt he had the chaps lapping up another one here hey!!!

Marc Bickers has been a regular playing partner with Helen over a number of seasons and it was great the pair were able to help the HDTL mixed first team into Division One after a title winning campaign during the summer. The magic man looked in good form here joined by his better half as he looks forward to the men’s doubles final on Club finals day this Sunday afternoon.

Finally I cant thank Helen enough for all the help and support she has provided during my time at the club. You wont find a friendlier and more warm hearted person and she has assisted and organised a number of social tennis events with me as well as purchasing prizes on several occasions which has been much appreciated.

I have enjoyed many a good afternoon watching the action unfold on court alongside Stuart who often has me in stitches with some wonderful tales and the pair will be missed. Wishing you both well and good fortune but do keep in touch of course. From all at Wetherby tennis club, thanks for the memories and all the best.
