Court Availability
There is an online Court Booking facility on the website. One court can be booked by members. The other two are available on a first come basis with an understanding that if players are waiting to play the courts will be shared after a reasonable time.
There are times when courts are pre-booked for club matches and other events. Regular events are shown below. Other events will be added during the year and will be shown on the online booking calendar.

Team Practice Night Monday 6.00 pm onwards. Team practice evenings will take the format of squad practice in teams until approximately 8.00 pm after which a general mix-in will ensue. Squad practice will generally be organised by team captains to try and give the best level of practice for their team players. This does mean that for the first 2 hours, it may not always be possible to take people onto court on a purely rotational basis.
Club Night Thursday 6.00pm onwards Open to all adults and competent juniors. Club Nights take the format of a general mix-in by all attendees and are intended for players of varying abilities although they are not suitable for absolute beginners. Club members attending Thursday nights are asked to ensure that they are sensitive to the needs of less strong players and that games are arranged to ensure that such players feel comfortable and a valued part of the Club.
Use of Court Lights The floodlights are now operated by a timer system in the Club House. Instructions for operating the timer are attached to this document. Please save energy & use the lights responsibly.
Resurfaced Courts Two courts were resurfaced & all three repainted in 2016.
The contractor has provided us with LTA guidelines advising how to prevent the court surface becoming damaged. Please read these guidelines at the end of this document, including advice about footwear.
Visitors
As the Club is a private tennis club, if you do invite visitors to play remember that a visitor's fee of £2 per visitor is payable. Visitors’ fees should be placed in the Parking Meter in the Car Park.
All visitors must be accompanied by an existing member of the Club who should sign the Visitors’ Book in the Club House. Any individual visitor may not play more than three times during the season except with the prior permission of the Committee.
Adult members of the Club are requested not to lend their court keys to non-members or allow children to take along friends who are not also members of the Club unless the appropriate visitors’ fees are collected. Please also do not be offended if you are playing and are asked if you are a member of the Club – in order to deal with the problem of non-members using the courts you may well be asked this question by a Committee member.
Tennis Club Car Park
The parking charge for non-tennis club members is now £2 per stay. Monies raised will contribute to on-going maintenance of the tennis facility & the cost of resurfacing the three courts. The parking charge will not apply to other Teams visiting for matches in the East Lancashire Tennis League.
Adult Members are reminded that they should not allow their children unsupervised access to the Clubhouse. All members are reminded that they have an obligation to ensure that Whalley Tennis Clubhouse and Courts are kept clean and tidy, including the removal of rubbish from the premises
Finally, the Committee is here to serve you and to ensure that we all get the best
possible enjoyment from the club and its facilities. If you have any ideas for improvement,
events, facilities etc. please share them with us.
Have a good season.
Your Committee
