Court One improvements

The Tennis Club Committee has given the go-ahead to two significant improvements to the single court. The court is starting to break up and is due to be resurfaced on (or about)  October 10th this year. A new layer of black tarmac will be laid over the surface and painted with temporary lines. Repainting will be done next spring when it is warmer. As the surface is being raised all the edging kerbs have to lifted and repositioned which is quite a big job in itself.  The work is being done by Platt Construction from Chester who did the previous work on courts two and three.

We have also just applied to Ribble Valley for planning permission to add floodlights to court one. The plan is to have similar floodlights to the new LED lights on the other courts. If we get permission we hope to install the lights so they can be used this winter.

To finance this work we are lucky and grateful to be in receipt of a sports grant from Ribble Valley BC to the tune of £5,000. The rest of the costs will be paid from the membership money which has been saved in a sinking fund over last few years.
