Covid -19, Club Information Following Government Announcement May 11th 2020
Tue, 12 May 2020 00:00
Following on from last week’s Directors update and Boris Johnson’s address to the nation on Sunday, further clarification has been provided by the UK Government on Monday 11 May 2020 in relation to outdoor tennis activity. The LTA are finalising the precise detail and we will endeavour to keep you right up to date with any further changes.
We are so excited that some tennis can be enjoyed back at the club, all be it limited, and the prospect of welcoming you back at your club playing tennis in a safe environment.
The Directors plan to open up the outside tennis courts at 9am on Tuesday 19 May 2020. This date allows for the court painting to be finished on Sunday 17 May 2020 and a one-day buffer so they are completely dry and ready for use. This date is based on dry weather and may be delayed if it rains and delays the court painting to be finished.
We wanted to reassure you that we have been planning our approach to reopening, with the safety of our members at the forefront of our minds and the following rules will be put into operation.
Rules and Social Distancing Strategy for Outside Tennis Courts.
- Courts will be open 9am till 9pm, so last court to be booked is 8pm. Please note, there will be no floodlights available and all members must book the court through Clubspark. Please keep to a 90 min booking to allow for others. However, members can stay on if no one has booked after but you still need to book the extra time please.
- Indoor Courts, Toilets, Clubhouse and Bar will remain closed UFN.
- Members will need to bring their own refreshments.
- Members will need to bring their own tennis balls.
- Maximum 4 players to one court adhering to the social distancing. Any doubles partner must be from your family.
- Singles play is permitted with one other person, who may not be from your family, but again, adhering to the social distancing rules.
- Coaches are allowed to do one to one coaching only at this stage. Group lessons are not permitted at the moment, so anyone who is currently on group sessions and interested in a one to one lesson, then please contact Andrew Beswick directly on 07539 085095.
- All children must be supervised by parents and adhering to social distance procedures.
- Members to keep to the right of the entrance path and if crossing someone leaving the club, then walk on grass to maintain the 2m space.
We are sorry to have these rules for the time being, but we must follow the Government and LTA guidelines. We fully appreciate all of you who have supported the club throughout the closure and we would encourage those members who cancelled or suspended their membership to consider reactivating please. This will allow the booking of the outdoor tennis courts.
We understand you may still have a few questions which we are unable to answer at this stage, especially around membership extension etc and we will continue to keep you updated in the weeks ahead. But for now, we just want you all to enjoy some tennis.
If you have any ideas or comments you would like to put forward, then the Directors would be delighted to hear from you. In the meantime, please stay safe and enjoy hitting some tennis balls again.
