Over the past few months our Committee, Staff and Directors have been working tirelessly behind the scenes, on improvements designed to make your experience as a member of this club better.

As many of you will know, we held a raffle just before Christmas, to raise funds to help us purchase a defibrillator for use in the club, should it ever be needed. That raffle made £530 and we are hoping to reach our intended target of £800 very soon, with money raised from our many upcoming events.

Thank you to all who purchased tickets and, especially, to Allison Truscott and Joan Barber, who not only put together but also donated the majority of the contents of the superb Hamper prizes. Without their help this would not have been possible.

You will all also be aware, I am sure, that the outside courts have recently been deep cleaned and all the moss has been removed making the courts much safer to play on. This will be followed up with re-painting of the courts in time for the start of the League season in April. You will be contacted very soon to discuss what colour we should choose.

Perhaps the biggest change is to the lighting on our indoor courts. Now almost 13 years old, these lights are causing problems. Finding replacements for failed lamps is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive. We have looked at this and have made the decision to replace them with new, ultra-efficient, modern LED lighting. Although this involves a significant financial outlay, it will offer you, our members, a much brighter, comfortable place in which to play. Another major advantage is the huge reduction in energy costs meaning that the initial outlay will be recovered in only a few years. We are very much looking forward to the installation being carried out towards the end of February.
I would just like to thank Cheshire County LTA for their help with this. Following  a recent meeting with County representatives they have agreed to donating £3,000 towards the cost of our lighting and court re-painting costs. We are very grateful for this and it is yet a further indication of the LTA's confidence in our club. It is really satisfying to hear some of the comments passed by LTA heirarchy during meetings. Widnes Tennis Academy is very highly thought of and that is down to the support of our members and to the huge efforts of our Directors, Committee,  Office and Coaching staff and all our fantastic volunteers. We couldn't achieve any of this without you so a huge THANK YOU from me is in order here!

You will have noticed, I hope, the fact that our website is now much more up to date and , although there are still one or two things to sort out, we are now committed to keeping it that way. If you have anything you would like us to feature on the website, please speak to Lucy in the office who has now taken on this task.

Whilst on the subject of staff roles. Joan is now taking on the role of Membership Co-ordinator so any issues regarding your memberships should be taken up with her.

I hope you can all see that we are moving forward quite quickly and, with your help and continued support, we hope to see a completely different club very soon.
Remember....this is YOUR club and your views and comments mean a great deal so don't be afraid to speak up.After all, if we don't know something is broken, we can't fix it!!

Keep an eye on this NEWS page for regular updates. THANK YOU.
