We are delighted to announce that the Woldingham Cup Team Event will be on Saturday 15th June at 1.45pm - Great Britain vs Rest of the World. Play is likely to start at 2pm and finish at 4pm approx.
The Woldingham Cup is a team competition for adults where two teams play against each other, consisting of a variation of ladies, men’s and mixed doubles matches.
Each team is comprised of 12 players, 6 ladies and 6 men, led by a team captain. Please note that substitutes are allowed and it is helpful to have a couple of extra players. The captain of Great Britain is Coach James Hall, and the captain of the Rest of the World is Imelda
The aim is to have players from Great Britain in James’s team and have players from the rest of the world in Imelda’s Team. Whilst we would like to keep to this idea of providing the right nationality for the teams, we may need some flexibility on making up the numbers. Patrick will arrange the competition and the players for each round will be decided on ‘captains picks’ by the captain.
Scoring:
All the matches will be one, fast four set (first to 4 games). In the event of the score being a tie at 3-3 the next game wins the match (no tiebreaks).
Each match win is worth one point. The winning team is the team with the most points. In the event of a tie after all rounds are played, a final overtime doubles match will be played.
Play with be on all 6 courts, so everyone will play lots of tennis!
Refreshments such as pizza, sandwiches, cake, and drinks will be available.
If you would like to play in the Woldingham Cup event, please contact the captains directly on the numbers below asap please.
