Mixed 1 and Mixed 2 win respective Summer 2022 Divisions

Aston Park's Mixed teams continue to perform at a high level with two of the three teams Divisional Champions in the Aylesbury and District League, the Mixed 1 Medley team being crowned as Bucks Shield Division 3 Champions and the Intermediate Cup team reaching the finals to be played on 21 September 2022.

Mixed 1- ADTL Division 3 Champions

Following on from being Winter 2021-22 Division 3 Champions, the Mixed 1 squad has now won Summer 2022 Division 3 remaining undefeated with 6 wins and 1 draw (13 out of a maximum of 14 points).

Congratulations to the small squad of players (Nathan Glynn, Andrew Nurse, Dan Norton, Michael Chase, Pamela Reid, Sue Hoey, Sarah Baker and Sarah Miller) who have won 66% of their sets to date and shown their versatility in playing with all members of the squad in different matches.

So it is Division 2 for us in Summer 2023 with Nathan suggesting we have a go at the Senior Cup taking on the big clubs and county players!

Once again we need to thank Alan Hutcherson at Halton who has taken us for tactics coaching, plus provided encouragement and support, throughout the summer season.

Well done squad- onwards and upwards!

Mixed 2- ADTL Division 5 Champions

As Captain I am delighted to report another strong performance from the Mixed 2 squad which saw us finish as League Champions in Mixed Division 5. The team goes from strength to strength having been Divisional Winners for the last three seasons since the restart following the Covid interruption.

Once again the whole squad played their part in going through the summer season undefeated (4 wins, 2 draws) so a big shout out to the ‘old guard’ of Pete, Anne, Mark, Anna and Sarah and the talented youngsters Elliott and Mollie who played Mixed 2 for the first time this season.  A well deserved promotion for a great group of people.

Thank you team.

Andy May (Team Captain)

Mixed 3- will stay Division 7

Mixed 3 delivered a real cliffhanger in their last match v Prestwood. This match had been abandoned because of rain, with us 3 sets up, back in April, and this was a third attempt to get it played.

A real see -saw match went right down to the last GAME via three tie break sets. Fortunately Kerry and Harry were unaware how crucial that last game was: at 5-3 up at 10pm, with the lights about to go out on us again and their captain still hoping for a draw. However by clinching that game the gutsy pair delivered a 5-3 win to us. Well played everyone. After so many near misses v Prestwood a hugely satisfying result. And  wins in our last four matches have taken us from bottom of the division to third place.

However there is a sad footnote. By courtesy of an 8-0 walkover  in their last match Prestwood end up in second position and we are pushed down to fourth place. When will these serial conceders be penalised by ADTL
