Brooklands Annual Tennis Tournament

The Annual Tournament kicked off in July, and despite having to hold it over the summer holidays, there was great take-up with 40 individuals putting their names forward for the various categories. The successful finalists then played for the coveted trophies on Finals Day.

The mens singles started us off on the day, with a father v son final. It was a match of hard hitting, some great volleys and overheads, and experience against youth. Youth won out in the end, with Matty beating Kev in 2 hard-fought sets.

The mixed doubles came next and went to a nail-biting third set championship tie-break. Hazel and Tim managed to get the edge over Georgie and Patrice in the final set to claim the trophy.

The mens doubles was the last match of the day. Another example of experience v youth, with some great rallies keeping the audience entertained. Again, the youngsters won: Nat and James S beating Richard and Manoj in 2 close sets.

The ladies doubles was played on Friday evening due to a diary clash. Grace and Georgie beat Judy and Paula in 2 great sets.

Thanks to Dermot for organising the tournament and to everyone who turned out on Sunday to support the players!
