This year the club are looking to offer and provide lots more opportunities to our junior members, in order to do this and have it well communicated with parents we will have a dedicated page on the clubs new website and send out regular emails from our Clubspark account, this will be for publicising news and information of particular relevance to our junior members of the club.

The club is looking to improve, develop and grow it current facilities now and over coming years so it’s a very exciting time to be involved in Tennis at Burnley Tennis Club, one of our projects will be to have a junior zone

Junior Club Nights

Changes are planned for a revamped Junior Club Night that will take effect after Easter, Club Night is currently available to members and none members, members are encouraged to bring friends along, sessions are just £2 PAYG. The format for junior club night will be based on having FUN on the courts, coaching and games

  • 5.30-6.30pm Boys & Girls aged 5-10years
  • 6.30-7.30pm Boys & Girls aged 11+

A tuck shop/Vending machine will be available in the club house and fully stocked, to help keep up the energy levels of the youngsters using the courts.

A junior ladder league is also to be introduced to encourage competition and interaction amongst all the junior club members, the format will be short games or super tiebreaks



This year the club has decided to enter the Aegon which is a national competition which starts at county level and the winning clubs can then progress to the national finals.  We will be entering teams for all the following age categories

  • 8 & Under
  • 9 & Under
  • 10 & Under
  • 12 & Under
  • 14 & Under
  • 16 & Under
  • 18 & Under

This is a great opportunity for our junior members to start competing and representing their club in the competition. the format is singles and doubles played in the appropriate format to their age groups, don’t worry if you have not played much team tennis or competitive tennis, this is the opportunity to have a go so don’t let it put you off! These competitions are open to children from 7 years +

Each team is made up of between 4 and 6 players and you normally play around 5 clubs across Lancashire, its great fun and great experience

We will announce when the fixtures will be on, so that parents and family members can come and support the juniors, fixtures normally start around April time 

East Lancs League

Last year we entered 2 team in the East Lancs league in the U16s category, we were delighted to win the league in 2018 so we will be entering a couple more teams providing opportunities for juniors from 11-16 years. The format is to play 'home' and 'away' games, on selected weekends, against other tennis club.  There is little traveling with all the clubs in the East Lancs so Accrington, Blackburn, Whalley, Clitheroe, Haslingden areas

Again we really encourage the kids to have a go, it’s about providing competitive opportunities  

Exciting Opportunity – Road to Wimbledon 2019

Burnley Tennis Club will be running a Road to Wimbledon Competition and we encourage anyone that is 14 and younger to enter, the competition which will be held at Burnley Tennis Club will run over a maximum of 2 days between the 1st April and the 11th June 2019

HSBC Road to Wimbledon 2019 is the biggest junior tournament in British tennis and gives all 14U players the opportunity to progress through to compete on the world famous grass courts at Wimbledon. Local clubs, parks and schools are encouraged to enter and stage a tournament for their members/pupils

Coaching opportunities

The club will continue to offer both group and individual coaching opportunities which will be delivered by our team of dedicated coaches, this will cover

  • Mini Tots
  • Mini Red
  • Mini Green
  • Mini Orange
  • Yellow Ball  

Saturday morning family tennis

This will run from April until September where Kids and Parents can get on court having fun, open to members and none members, between 10-12pm just £2 per person, great opportunity for kids to give tennis a try in a fun family setting

Club Tournaments, local tournaments team practice sessions will all be advertised as and when the information is available

Keep looking out for your emails from Clubspark and your Club News Texts; we will be doing everything we can to get your children’s good news stories, progress and other achievements in to the local newspapers, on the clubs Clubspark websites and in to their school so that the school can tell all the other pupils about their news
