DID YOU KNOW? Carlton were the first Tennis club in the Southport area to install floodlights. After former member Peter Pearson planted the idea to the committee in 1967, grateful contributions by its members including club president Sampson Goldstone who provided the electrics, saw the grand opening take place on April 4th 1968.

Opened by the Mayor of Southport, followed by an exhibition match featuring some of Southport's best players of the time as well as Lancashire county players, this is seen as one of the most significant moments in the clubs history.
