The club is organising an American Tournament on Sunday morning, 3rd November. We will be leaving 2 courts free for a limited club session, so tournament places are limited (8 men, 8 ladies).
Please enter by the closing date of Wednesday 30th October. If necessary, names will be drawn from a hat. Participants (and reserves) will be notified on Thursday 1st November.
Format:
For those who may be unfamiliar with the format, it's a round-robin mixed doubles competition in which players are paired at random:
- There are 2 groups of 4 pairs.
- Each match comprises 8 games
- the ladies change partners halfway through (after 4 games)
- Individual scores are recorded.
- The 2 ladies and the 2 men with the highest scores in each round-robin group play a final
Refreshments:
The entry fee is £5 per person payable on the day and includes a lunch (homemade soup, a variety of sandwiches and a dessert) at the conclusion of the tournament.
Start time:
On the day, all players should arrive by 9.45am so that initial pairings can be organised and play will start at 10am sharp.
