NEWSLETTER – ISSUE 1. MARCH 2018
A Word from your Chairman……
I think we have all had enough of the cold wet winter and are looking forward to playing more tennis in warmer, drier conditions. Well done to all the hardy members who have braved the mix-ins, coaching and cardio sessions throughout the last few months.
The Committee has been working hard to organise various events and competitions, details of which can be found below.
We look forward to seeing you all on Court soon!
By now many of you would have heard that Gary Waughman, our Head Coach, has re branded and gone into partnership with Premier Tennis.
The move is a positive one for both himself and the Club.
As well as the on court expertise that Gary brings to the courts he now can offer our members a simple booking and payment online system that will allow him more time to help the committee drive the club forward and create playing opportunities for more people in the area.
For more details please contact Gary at [email protected]
Update for Mix-in sessions, in-house competitions and friendly matches.
Every Monday and Friday night, from 7-9pm, CCTC have a Mix-in session. All adult members are welcome, regardless of ability or fitness! For advanced members these sessions are free and for basic members there is a £5 fee payable on the night.
During these sessions, a member of the committee, or designated member of the club, will set the courts out ready for the mix-in, provide tennis balls and organise the mix-in games. These games are played in a friendly environment.
Starting on the 2nd of April, CCTC will be providing a free coaching clinic during the
Monday night Mix-in, and will continue on the first Monday of every month. The clinic will be run by Gary Waughman from 7-9pm and will be played as a mix-in session, with Gary organising the games and providing hands-on coaching for team games. (£5 fee for basic members)
This is a great opportunity to improve your game in a friendly and fun environment, and provides fantastic value for our advanced members. If you would like to take part, or upgrade your basic member package to an advanced member so you can join in the mix-in sessions for free, then please contact me at [email protected]
Members Mix-in sessions
Every Sunday morning from 10-12pm, there is an open session run by the members. Arranged via a WhatsApp group, which you can be added to, where members can contact each other to arrange a friendly match or a group mix-in session.
The CCTC committee have also invited other local tennis clubs to join the Friday night and Sunday sessions, and CCTC have been invited to play at their courts too. An email will be sent out to confirm future dates and you will also be notified via WhatsApp and Facebook group pages.
For this month, we have asked Twyford tennis club to join us on Friday the 30th of March for the mix-in from 7-9 pm.
During, May-June-July-August-September, CCTC will be running various ladder competitions. There will be ladder for women, men (singles) and a mixed doubles ladder (a playing partner will be chosen for you).
Outside the courts, on a notice board, there will be a list of the members registered to play in these ladder competitions and members will be able to contact the other members to arrange their own matches. There will be a finals day in October, when the final of each ladder competition will be played. More information on the ladder competitions will be sent to you later this month.
Also, despite being a fairly new club, the committee is committed to organising friendly matches with other clubs, but this will depend on the number of members who want to play in them.
Members can contact Mike at [email protected] or on 07976 720630 to find out more information about the ladder competitions, join the WhatsApp group and the friendly matches with other clubs.
