Wimbledon 2016

Wimbledon 2016 and what a great day we all had dispite getting wet.

Every year Deb and I take some of the children to Wimbledon to experience the atmosphere, watch some incredible tennis and of course to eat strawberies and cream.

We left the club at 5:45 am in order to reach the famous que in time to get our ground passes and get in to watch the tennis. It was a wet start with lots of rain and muddy conditions in the que but our spirits remained high and we had many excited young tennis players ready to watch some of there heros play once we were inside.

Once inside after a 5hr wait to get in we went straight to the courts to watch Alexandre Zherev the new young sensation aged just 19 and ranked 37 in the world, he was up against the former top ten player with plenty of experience, the russian Mikhail Youzhny and the 22nd seed for the tornament. it went the distance with the young teenager wining in the 5th set 6 games to 4. A great match and he will be one to watch in the future and possibly could be a future number 1.

We also watched some great ladies tennis and had plenty of time to walk the grounds and check out all of Wimbledon in its full glory as the weather did not play ball.

We took time out for lunch and snacks and enjoyed watching some of the players practice on the practise courts and even managed to get a player to pass all of us a ball from the courts.

We eventually arrived home very late and very tired but all very happy that we had such a great day.

Unfortunatley due to work committments it was Debs final year with myself and the kids and she will be missed greatly by us all.

Big thank you to Nigel Hunter and to Charlotte Piveteau as well as Deb of course who drove up some children and helped me look after them and make sure all were safe on the day.

lets now look forward to Wimbledon 2017.
