Juniors in Adult Teams – positive to see so many juniors playing in adult teams. Approx 16 so far and more hopefully to follow this year. Juniors were a big part of another successful  mens 3rd team, finishing 3rd in division 2 on games difference . Great to see so many girls being involved in ladies tennis. This will hopefully carry on and grow.

Keith Murcutt Memorial Tournament – another successful tournament in memory of Keith on Wimbledon mens finals day saw an added bonus of Keith Reynolds give a talk on some of his tennis experiences.

Adult Coaching – Reintroduction of Cardio tennis along with more coaching opportunities saw an increase in uptake from adults accessing coaching. This will continue to grow in 2017.

Junior/Adult Match Practice – thanks again to Chantelle Stamp, Julie Corne and Sally Hargreaves for continuing the encouragement of girls integration within the ladies teams and match practice sessions.

Summary

2016 was a great year for juniors breaking through into representative county tennis and the increase in participation in both junior and adult teams. The club won Derbyshire “Club of the Year” award, at the recent  County awards ceremony. This was in recognition for the fantastic facility development, continued increase in playing participation, strong coaching programme and hosting another successful County Champs.

The coaching programme and role of Head Coach continues to evolve each year with new initiatives (clubspark), and new ideas on how to develop the club.

2017 will be another successful year with already an increase in both Adult and Junior teams, the new courts are a fantastic asset to encourage new members (we just need good weather). We have an open Day planned for April 29th and an open evening on carnival week June 22nd.  Internal tournaments for juniors will be on most weekends along with the reintroduction of social Saturdays.

Thanks to Chris Hubbard and Dave Nappin for steering the club continually forward and to Alison Knibbs for assistance with Clubspark and all club matters, plus John and Moira for driving the membership
