Scott Bowman plays for Essex County Tennis - East Region

 

Over the early May bank holiday weekend Scott Bowman represented Essex County in a two day Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Lionel Cox Trophy East Region Competition at Queenswood, Hatfield. He played in the 10U boys singles team, one of three boys nominated to represent the county. 

 

Scott competed in a round-robin box format, followed by final position play-offs 1-10 against team members from the other nine East Region county teams. On day one Scott rose to the challenge to beat Suffolk in straight sets, but then all Essex team members lost their matches against Hertfordshire. On day two Scott beat Cambridgeshire and then after a battle (with most, if not all games going to deuce points) lost to Norfolk. In the round-robin box Essex County finished a respectable third place which was a great result. Essex then played Oxfordshire (third in their box) to compete for overall 5th/6th place and Essex finished 6th (10U Boys).

 

Scott thoroughly enjoyed the event, it was great experience and a brilliant atmosphere and one of the first outdoor Summer season tournaments this year - with the bonus of the sunshine. He was also very pleased to receive a new Essex County Tennis squad outfit too!
