May 2022 Newsletter

I'm  beginning to get to grips with being the new chair of the club and my appreciation of the work that the committee gets through grows by the day!  Thanks to their guidance, I am managing to keep my head above water, even though I spent quite a bit of time up north during April (managing to take in four Newcastle United home games).  I am also grateful to the previous chair Bob Roberts who has provided invaluable support to keep me on the right lines.

The big news for the club  is that our newly refurbished courts are now up and running and there is already a marked difference in the quality of the playing surface, especially after a couple of rain showers helped to bed them down properly.  We are planning a celebration day from 10pm to 3 pm on 25 June to mark the refurbishment and it should be a memorable occasion. On that day we will be hosting:  a pop-up tennis equipment/clothing shop; a fun Doubles tournament; a cardio tennis session; and coaching for all ages. There will also be  food and drink available. Everyone is welcome and we hope that the weather will be kind to us - please come down and see what we have to offer.

Before our celebration event, several tennis club members will be helping to ensure that the Frampton Jubilee festivities run smoothly and we look forward to making new friends during the process.  Please look out for the special mini tennis activity for children which our head coach Joe Waters will be supervising on the village green on the afternoon of Saturday 4 June.

The summer league season is now underway and it's a bit early yet to make predictions about our chances. We have entered three male and three female teams and we are also encouraging juniors to take part in competitive games. Next time around I will let you know how they are all getting on.

Don't forget that non-members are always very welcome to come and try our facilities so that they can discover why we love tennis so much - and maybe even join us!.  If you can encourage friends and family to have a go - and, hopefully, sign up -  please feel free.   For more information see our website at https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/framptononseverntennisclub/Membership/Join -  or call the Head Coach Joe Waters on 07497 618240.

See you on the courts!
