Harrogate Junior Schools Badminton & Table Tennis Tournament 2019

Harrogate Racquets Club proudly held its annual school tournament this month. We were delighted this year to add table tennis to the schedule. Oatlands Junior , Pannal Primary and Rossett Acre Junior schools bought 2 teams each. One for badminton and one for table tennis. Each team comprised of 8 members, 4 boys and 4 girls from years 4,5 & 6.

All the children had a great time and the sportsmanship was fantastic. A very big thank you to all the helpers, the teachers and the coaches for all their work both before and during the event.

The results are as follows

Badminton

Each team member was seeded and they played a series of doubles throughout the afternoon. We had umpires on each of the 3 courts helping the children learn and keep scores. We had some fantastic long rallies and lots of close games. The final positions were

Table Tennis

The children were spit into 4 teams, one to each table. Their names entered onto a score sheet which displayed a round robin format with each child playing everyone in their team. It also designated a child to umpire and score each match. The children took this very seriously and really enjoyed the responsibility of sitting in the 'umpires chair’. From this 4 winners took part in a semi final finishing with a final and overall winner. The total games from the whole afternoon were added up to give us a winning team. Results as follows
