George Chan Wins Gold!

George Chan our Head Coach table tennis has had the season of a life time and we are so proud of him.

His journey began when he entered the National Parkinson’s Table Tennis Championships at St Neots. He entered the toughest category and in a grueling series of matches, beating the favourite he claimed the Gold Medal.

If that wasn't enough, the same day George received a call to represent England. An international call up, to take part in the World Parkinsons championship in Berlin, competing against 25 nations.

The following week George was whisked off to Berlin. On arrival the stadium was incredible! A massive 90M x 50M with over 40 brand new tables! "A sight to be believed " said George.

The team consisted of 7 players from England, 5 from Scotland and 1 player from Wales. The team claimed 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals!!

George won a gold in the men's doubles (class 2) and a silver in the mixed (class 1). Absolutley fantastic!

George said "Last week in Berlin was absolutely amazing and inspiring."

We look forward to hearing what comes next for George but for now he has such wonder experiences which he will share with his junior squad here at the club

If you have a junior that would like to join us and enjoy this wonderful sport, and be coached by a truly exceptional player and coach then do get in touch.
